Learn to play polo

Polo is so much more than glamour and sophistication. As one of the fastest ball games that exist, the sport is sheer adrenaline, precision, skill and excitement. As an activity with a difference it is guaranteed to wow your guests. No riding experience is necessary – it is as simple as that! You can be confident that your guests will not have tried their hand at polo before. The thrill, fun, challenge and sense of achievement as people learn to ride and hit the ball at the same time guarantees a memorable experience.

Polo activities will take place at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club which is set in 270 acres of English countryside. The six polo grounds, impressive clubhouse and terraces offer the perfect setting for the perfect day.

The programme includes:

• 15 minutes flying time (depart at 1000 hrs and return at 1500 hrs, or 1600 hrs if you include the Exhibition Match)
• Tea, coffee and a selection of patisserie in the Club house
• Introduction to the world of polo by Henry Brett (Or another suitable international player)
• Participants will be split into groups to rotate through a series of activities
• THE SWING Learn the basic swing with short sticks
• HITTING TECHNIQUES Learn to hit the ball from the wooden horses
• RIDING On horseback learn the commands to control your pony
• RULES AND TACTICS Watch footage of a polo match with your coach
• Your own mini tournament – a chance to put your new found skills to the test! (Willing participants are split into teams of four to play against each other)
• The contribution of a commentator will really bring the game to life – not something to be missed!
• Enjoy an “Asado” – an Argentine style barbecue - with a selection of seasonal salads and delicious desserts. 1/2 bottle of wine, mineral water and coffee are included.
• Afternoon Tea, coffee and cakes in the Clubhouse before finishing for the day. This can be an opportunity for a prize giving for the best polo team!
• An Exhibition game can be organised at an additional cost after lunch - the game can be staged with professional players playing in your corporate colours. It really provides the perfect environment for you to relax and enjoy your afternoon with your guests. A professional commentator will guide you through the game. Prices for this are given on the costing grid

Note:

• Any client participation will take place in an enclosed arena.
• No riding experience is necessary.
• Horses are carefully selected for beginners and all equipment is provided.
• Instructors have a thorough knowledge of the sport and teaching and they are on hand and supervising at all times.
• Minimum number is 10
• A member of The Vantage Point Group will be on site to assist with the programme.
